HOW PARENTS INFLUENCE THEIR CHILD’S DEVELOPMENT THROUGH

THEIR ACTIONS?

Hello Folks!

Have you ever wondered how crucial is parents time for the upbringing of their children? Well, today, I will lay my emphasis on this area which is of grave importance in today’s world. So, let’s start.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAucaMbWntk

Parents are the first and most important influence in a child’s life. They can influence their child’s development through their behaviors as well as what they say to their children.https://www.sabahataamir.com/smiling-faces-happy-children/

The way parents respond to a child’s actions can foster or inhibit development. When parents respond to a child, specifically negative behaviors, with anger or frustration this can harm the child’s development.

Parents should provide guidance and support for children by encouraging positive behaviors and praising their effort rather than focusing on mistakes.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF PARENTING STYLES:

There are four main parenting styles. The first is authoritative parenting. Authoritative parents are not overly strict or lenient, they set clear boundaries and allow their children to make decisions on their own, but they also guide them with feedback and support to help them learn from mistakes.

The second is permissive parenting. Permissive parents usually let their children do what they want without giving any guidance, so the child does not learn how to take care of themselves or what’s right from wrong.

The third is authoritarian parenting which is the opposite of authoritative, these parents are strict and set very high standards for their children but don’t give them the chance to express their feelings or opinions because it challenges the authority figure.

Lastly, there’s neglectful parenting where parents do not provide adequate supervision for their child which can lead to many personality faults.

Regarding parenting, no one style is a definite one, one needs to develop one through trial and error and according to the circumstances and needs.

DAILY ACTIONS THAT HURT OR HELP DEVELOP CHILDREN INTO SUCCESSFUL GROWN-UPS:

Parents need to provide their children with the tools to deal with Impulsive behavior which is often the result of children not having the skills to manage their emotions or act appropriately in different social situations.

Overprotectiveness can lead to anxiety and stress for both parents and children. Children need room for exploration, independence, and self-expression through play.

If one parent is too harsh or otherwise unsupportive, parental guidance becomes unbalanced. The other parent needs to share the workload of providing appropriate boundaries and guidance for their child’s behavior.

And Lastly, children need gentle feedback so they know how they are doing in their day-to-day life. Children should be given constructive feedback for their actions.

KEY ELEMENTS OF A HEALTHY PARENTAL RELATIONSHIP:

A strong and healthy family relationship is the backbone of a happy and fulfilling life. A relationship is not just about love and care, it’s also about understanding, trust, and mutual respect.

A healthy parental relationship is important for the psychological health of children. A study found that children who grow up with a stable relationship with their parents are more likely to have better self-esteem and academic performance.

The researchers, from the University of Otago in New Zealand, also found that better family relationships were associated with fewer mental health problems and fewer incidents of delinquency and substance abuse among teenage girls.

In the end, I would like to conclude that parents, too all are human beings. They are not Ph.D.’ in the parenting field. They learn with trial and experience what works best for their children. However, parenting too, like many other relationships requires consciousness and the desire of bringing out the best in one’s children. https://blog.pathwaystofamilywellness.org/pathways/3-elements-to-a-healthy-relationship-with-your-child/

Parents who lay their emphasis on showing love, providing support, setting limits, being a role model, teaching responsibility, providing a range of experiences, and showing respect are the ones who have decoded parenting in the true sense.

Parents should respect each other’s parenting style and be able to work together as a team when needed. Both parents should be able to share their thoughts, feelings, and concerns without fear of judgment or rejection.

Parents should be able to understand what the other is thinking or feeling without being judgemental and the same applies to the children.

In today’s scenario, our generations are going far apart due to the unimportant things parents have engulfed themselves in the name of earning a livelihood. Children will grow up but the marks that are going to be imprinted on their feeble minds will remain forever. Then, no time or wealth will bring them close to you.

Think about it. Until next time stay safe and healthy.
