How to write a Killer Resume?

Hello Everyone!

Today, I will let you know the secrets, to writing a killer resume that makes you stand out among potential candidates applying for a job.

Therefore, let’s start with a short brief of each one of these that will make your resume stand out.

Tailor-Made:

The number one secret, to writing a killer resume that makes you stand out is to ensure that the resume is tailor-made according to the job requirement.

Now, you may have a lot to offer on your plate but the best way to offer your services is to highlight only what is required for the job i.e. Job description or Title.

Are you the Right Fit?

The second secret, to writing a killer resume that makes you stand out is to ensure whether you fit within the category of the required job criteria. So, here, too if the job Title/Description is clear to you, you may end up having your dream job.

Recruiters are looking for people who meet the criteria with the relevant set of skills and experience which may vary from person to person.

Be Honest:

The third secret, to writing a killer resume that makes you stand out is not to lie. If you do not have a certain experience as required for the job, do not make it up.

As sooner or later, the recruiters might know it and you might end up on a bad note.

Structure of the Resume:

The fourth secret, to writing a killer resume that makes you stand out is to structure the resume very carefully. It should cover your Academic qualifications as support to the position you are applying for.

Similarly, Professional experience for the said position comes as an added advantage to the overall resume.

Short and Crisp:

The fifth secret, to writing a killer resume that makes you stand out is to have a resume that is short and crisp.

A very lengthy resume takes away the interest and becomes more or less like any ordinary resume. So stay focused and be short. As “brevity is the soul of wit”.

The right selection  of Job Experience:

The sixth secret, to writing a killer resume that makes you stand out is to show your two most recent jobs that make you fit for the job.

As I mentioned earlier, no one likes to have an overdose of qualifications or skills especially not recruiters. Give them what they need to hear.

Demonstrate Progress:

The seventh secret, to writing a killer resume that makes you stand out is to demonstrate progress.

Show the recruiters how your jobs and experiences have led you to the place you are right now or intend to see yourself in the future. Your demonstrated set of skills will want them to buy your services.

Voluntary Work:

The Eighth secret, to writing a killer resume that makes you stand out is to include voluntary work.

The recruiter does not know you in person but the voluntary services that you may have offered will give them a fair idea about your suitability for the job.

Provision of relevant Links/Portfolio:

The ninth secret, to writing a killer resume that makes you stand out is to provide links to other sites, and social media where you may have your portfolio uploaded.

This gives a pretty insight into who you are and whether you will be able to fit in the said position.

Add Contact Details:

And Last but not least, the secret that makes you stand out is to make it easier for the employer to contact you. Your contact details and the number you provide must be in access of the recruiter at all times.

In the end, I would like to say that your resume should be like a story. It should have a beginning, middle, and end that keeps its readers engaged; so is the case with the recruiter. If the above-narrated secrets are followed, you will end up having your dream job in no time.

Until next time, stay happy and blessed.
