Last week, I discussed the problems children face in schools. This week, I aim at discussing some of the solutions to the problem that children are facing in most school systems. So let’s start.
The first solution to children’s problems in school is the need to teach them the difference between fantasy and reality about schools. As said, “all that glitters is not gold”. And so is the scenario with every school system that exists.
Programs and segments on TV, show the fantasy and dreamlike world where children are about to enter whereas, in reality, there is no such thing of the kind. Their small dreams yet to take reality are crushed when they see the difference between fantasy and the real world.
Secondly, the problem of bullying needs to be tackled in full letter and spirit. Its time to show that actions have consequences. And no one can escape, no matter what the background is.
Thirdly, Favouritism needs to come to an end. If the school wants to reward a teacher for his/her services, there are better ways to do it. It does not have to be the child of that teacher. Although exceptions are always there and that’s why merit systems are made.
Fourthly, the overall system of Groupings in the school should be discouraged. After all, schools are for everyone and there should be no difference based on status among fellow pupils. All school bearers should be appointed based on certain criteria rather than popularity only.
Fifthly, school Canteens need to provide healthy food that is home-cooked if they want to be spared of future ratios of obesity. Plus by encouraging home-cooked food in the school will be a step forward to promote small businesses.
As many of the school workers maybe having it as a sideline to cater for their household needs. However, quality under no circumstance should be compromised.
Sixthly, the mixing of young and old children especially boys should be strictly Monitored. For this purpose, separate teachers are needed to assign this task to. And this trend of one teacher for all tasks should be diminished.
After all, teachers too are human and cannot carry on tasks like a robot.
Seventh, all schools small and big have many areas where they are collecting Funds in the name of miscellaneous. These funds need to be used diligently especially when it comes to the well being of the students.
For the rising change in behaviors of the students, be it related to anger or stress or psychological or mood outbursts; there is a dire need for the appointment of Area-Specific Counselors in the school. One for all is not the solution to every problem.
Children might be needing consultation in studies or sports or other awareness.
Eighthly, where there is a need for a Parent to Children interaction, same is the requirement and need of a Parent to Teacher interaction. This problem needs to be addressed duly by both parties to prevent future events that might be taking place in children’s life.
And lastly, Schools need to Enroll themselves with certain Institutions that work on the overall personality of a child. These programs can be related to anger management or psyche or overall well being. And the counselor has to recommend such programs for the child in consultation with the school and parents.
As for other children, there should be a compulsion to work for some time, as a paid job either with their school or some charity to introduce the habit of hard work right from the early years.
Think about it. Until next time, stay safe and healthy.
Life is simple yet it can become complicated at times especially when children /teens face school problems. Today, I aim at talking about school problems that children face. So let’s start.
School is said to be the next lap after a mother’s lap but unfortunately, many schools fail to provide that safe lap as compared to a mother’s lap. The moment a child enters a school he/she is exposed to the external world.
The first shock that a child receives is the difference between reality and what he/she is told right from the beginning about schools. All the dreams start shattering as children start realizing the reality of school.
The second problem that children face is the difficulty in making friends. Every child is coming from a different background and schools might not be well equipped to make every child apt to the environment or make them feel less miserable than they already are.
The third problem that children face is the problem of bullying. Every child is not a born leader or may not have the strength to stand up for themselves. Here, too, the administration seems to fail desperately in acknowledging and resolving the problems of bullying.
There are very few institutions in Pakistan that have zero tolerance towards bullying. Others are benefitting from them. They are enjoying this benefit in the name of clientele.
The fourth problem the children face in schools is Nepotism. It is rarely seen that a staff child may be of outstanding caliber as compared to other children. Although exceptions are always there.
But most of the time, a faculty staff-child is given the undue privilege as compared to a hard-working student. This attitude of the school administration devoids the confidence of a hard-working student for life. For he/she knows in that particular system, he/she cannot excel with the lot.
The fifth problem children face in schools is regarding grouping. The groups in school gain the favour of certain faculty staff and enjoy benefits whereas others are at a disadvantage. This attitude is mostly witnessed at the time of school elections and other co-curricular activities.
The need of the time is to have fair and accountable elections if a scenario arises.
The sixth problem children face in schools is regarding the food provided in the canteen. Most of the food is junk which altogether is injurious for the health of any child. There should be a balance between the foods served in the school keeping in view the dietary habits of every child. Plus a separate canteen is needed for the junior and senior level.
The seventh problem that children face in schools is regarding the mixing of young and old boys, especially at off times. Mostly the transport areas are the most neglected areas where young children can become easy prey to older children not to mention the van drivers.
The eighth problem that children face in schools is regarding settlements issue. Most of the times the faculty is not trained according to the requirement of a specific child’s need. Every school requires the services of trained counsellors who knows his/her job and can guide the children accordingly.
And lastly, every child needs a conducive environment to excel in life. If there is no or less conducive environment for the development of a child then we are looking in for trouble. The impact may be deep and take another few years to bring the child back to normal again. Think about it. Until next time, stay safe and healthy.
How is the feeling of being loved and wanted generation after generation? It is a great feeling. Especially for those whose grandparents are alive.
In today’s busy lives, most of us have forgotten even if they exist. Today, I aim to talk about them and the impact Grandparents have in our lives. So let’s start.
Firstly, I could never have been the mother, I am if it wasn’t for them. I owe it to them for what I am today.
Parenting is no easy task. Every generation has its own problems, which the parents need to tackle.
However, if they are around, the pain is lessened to a great extent.
Secondly, the Grandparents act as a bridge between the parents and the new generation.
They pass down the ethics, history, and traditions to the generations to cherish them.
It is a great asset for our generations and they should take pride in it.
Thirdly, the love and affection of Grandparents for their grandchildren is manifold in so many ways.
At times, we as parents complain that we had a more strict course of action to follow as compared to our children.
Fourthly, they have so much to share in terms of experience and skills, even a lifetime looks less to learn from them.
Fifthly, the patience and determination borne by them have no alternative. As parents, children, every one of us should learn something from them be it small or big.
Sixth, grandparents are the real spoilers when it comes to children and we should not mind at all.
All year long, parents discipline their children according to them.
So really there is no harm if children can have their way around in the company of grandparents.
Seventh, children who do not have grandparents should adopt other people’s grandparents and see the miracles themselves.
A Visit to a destitute or a senior care home is always good.
And Lastly, grandparents only need our time and love.
We as children often fail to acknowledge their presence and forget to tell them how much we love them.
It is never too late to make amends. Time is ticking.
I would therefore like to reiterate that grandparents are a blessing in disguise. One needs to cherish them the way one cherishes their own children.
It is never too late to make amends and look for better days to come. Think about it.
