In Pakistan, this day is declared as a National holiday and is celebrated with great decoration and valor by the civil and military parades.
There are gun salutes early in the morning in Islamabad and provincial capitals. Also, the flag is hoisted from all government departments and buildings.
But the real joy is seen in the faces of young children who just are fascinated with the flying of planes and gunshots in the background. Their smiles are just mesmerizing.
With the ongoing economic crisis in day-to-day lives, such holidays come as a blessing in disguise where one can put their sorrows aside and enjoy a day with full zeal.

As I traveled to the inner parts of the city, I had the chance of witnessing great joy in the play and singing of the young running after the sound of the jets flying by.

In the end, I had the opportunity of visiting a home. The simplicity and values, I witnessed there made me proud to be an Asian. Such values, I haven’t seen in ages.

And the more close, one is to one’s root, the better it is for all.

Similarly, in some parts of the world, it is celebrated as Toast Day and even as Chia day. So much good to offer on a specific date.
