WHAT MAKES LIFE WORTH LIVING

“Sometimes our light goes out but is blown into flame by another human

being. Each of us owes deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this

light”

Hello Folks!

Today is a very special day for me and I want to share some life gained experiences till now. What makes life worth living. So let’s start.

Now and then, we are faced with confusion, anxiety, and even questions; if life is worth living. Obviously, as humans, we do come across such questions in our lives.

What matters at the end of the day is to analyze the output/by-product of all our efforts of the years gone by. That will help us in understanding whether life is worth living.

Helping others makes my life worth living. The satisfaction I gain from it cannot be explained in words.

The smiles and joy that it puts on People’s faces are of great value to me and I would love to cherish each day with the same zest and zeal.

Secondly, is the Purpose in Life. Life is not just being happy. It has much more to offer.

As humans and individuals, our aim should be, be useful, honorable, and be compassionate. To make a difference and say it out loud that one has lived and lived well.

Thirdly, Focus on Developing Meaningful Relationships. Our relationships with people in our environment give solid meaning to our lives. Thus making it worth living.

However, we need to be very careful while fostering relationships with people. Supportive relationships help us in excelling to our purpose in life whereas non-supportive relationships can bring us down.

Fourthly, a Positive Mindset is a must thing for having a life that is worth living. No one has ever gained anything productive from a negative mindset.

The more positive and productive the thoughts are, the more productive would be the output.

Fifth is Appraisal. No one can progress without the acknowledgment or appraisal from others for what you have done or are doing.

Positive appraisal or acknowledgment can take one to greater heights of achievement making life worth living after all.

Sixth is the Sense of Achievement which makes life worth living. Achievement can be anything from simple to complex.

For some upbringing of children in the most productive way is an achievement. For others, pursuing a top-most career is an achievement.

Whatever, be the achievement, make sure, you are satisfied with it fully.

Seventh is Gratitude which makes life worth living. Whatever small or big you have gained, be gratified for it.

Do not make your or others’ life miserable for what you do not have or have not gained.

Eighth, Love with all your might. Always give without expecting anything in return. You, yourself will witness the benefits in countless ways.

Ninth, Listen to what others have to say. Not everyone gets the privilege to be a listener. It’s a gift and needs to be used very wisely. Thus making life worth living.

And Lastly, learn from other people’s mistakes instead of creating your own. This keeps you ahead of everyone.

Never fear to take the advice of someone younger than you. They might have more wisdom than you have.

In the end, I would like to reiterate that there are so many other things in life than the ones mentioned above worth living.

If one is a seeker, one will find them in the due course of time. As Barack Obama once said; https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/6356.Barack_Obama

“The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.”

HOMELESSNESS AND ITS EFFECT ON

INDIVIDUALS

Hello Folks!

How does it feel to be lonely, always having a feeling of insecurity and vulnerability lurking over your head. You guessed it right.I am talking about Homelessness and its effect on individuals .

Today, I will lay my focus on the effects Homelessness has on individuals and how it shapes their personality for life. So let’s start.

The first effect homelessness has on an individual is the  Sense of Deprivation. This deprivation often leads to heinous crimes that may result in violent aggression, frustration and even forceful acts.

The second effect of homelessness on an individual is  Loneliness. It enhances the misery of being homeless and lonely at the same time in everyone.

Vulnerability is very crucial when it comes to children who are unaware of the cruel world outside.

The life in the streets and public shelters is worse than one can imagine. You can very well imagine what kind of personality is shaping underneath.

Fourthly, one thing all homeless persons share is Abject Poverty

Fifthly, Health problems faced by the homeless are more complicated as compared to a normal individual. Most homeless persons may die due to non treatment for multiple diseases.

Cardio-Respiratory,Tuberculosis,Skin diseases/Disorders,Nutritional Deficiencies,Drug Dependency,Mental Health,Mortality,HIV, and Physical Assaults are some common problems faced by the homeless.

Sixth, children and youth who live in Emergency Shelters are the ones who often face Emotional and Development difficulties.

They have a high rate of chronic disease which is twice as high as that of their stable peers.

They often suffer from upper Respiratory Infections,Trauma’s, Lice Infestation,Gastro-Intestinal Disorders, Genito- Urinary Difficulties and Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

Seventh, the Death Rate of homeless people is four times greater than those who are not homeless. Most of the homeless die violently and about a quarter are brutally murdered.

Eighth, the effect of homelessness is seen in the Emotional behavior of the children. They suffer from delayed Speech,Language Acquisition,Cognition, Social and Motor Development.

And lastly, Family is a basic unit.To separate any family or its members is like killing a part of the body.Whatever, the means, they can live and survive together.

In the end, I would like to say that Homelessness is a very undesirable condition for anyone who is facing it or has faced it.

Those at the helm of the affairs need to intervene and set up proper systems for the homeless and cater for their adequate needs.

They need to consider homeless people as part of their responsibility and duty. And work for them with great dedication without expecting anything in return.

As a Social Activist,I have never found any such shelter homes that claim to be supporting livelihoods. On the surface all is glitter but once you start looking inside for details, the overall system is rotten to the core.

This calls for individual efforts or like minded people who can come together and provide a homelike environment to the homeless.

The ultimate goal should be the proper development of an individual to make him/her a productive member of the community. Thus shaping their personalities in the most positive way.

These are food for thought for you.Until next time, stay safe and healthy.
