THE BLAME GAME

UPCLOSE AND PERSONAL

Hello Folks!

Recently, I have been going through a lot of turmoil regarding the online classes and the problems at hand. Today, I aim at discussing these problems, the Blame Game, and the suffering party. So let’s start.

The foremost problem that students are facing online is regarding I.T issues. Even the most competent lot has failed to understand basic issues related to I.T; let alone the teachers.

How hard is it to turn on a simple computer and apply the appropriate software to the system? What are the so-called big systems installed in school doing in this regard except blaming each other regarding the responsibility?

The second problem that students are facing online is the lack of delivery regarding lessons. I won’t deny the fact that people who have been teaching all their life face to face find this mode of delivery rather difficult but trust me guys it’s not that difficult. You just need to get the hang of it. There is a way to everything if one has the will to do it.

Our children have proved this by grasping the new modes then why can’t the deliverers do the same. There is no insult to learning something new. At the age of 43, I am learning each day from my children, surroundings, and like-minded people. So can you.

The third problem that students are facing is the biases on part of the teachers. All students deserve attention and no single student should be sidelined for your meaningless biases.

The fourth problem that students are facing online is regarding the explanation of a topic. Research is good no doubt but even to research children/students need concepts. Without explanation, you can’t expect a student to write a Research paper. So stop giving video links in the first place rather, start explaining.

The fifth problem that students are facing is the blame game. Every time a student account is locked, the one responsible doesn’t take the responsibility rather the vicious cycle begins of blaming; switching from one department to the other.

And in this whole blame game who is the sufferer? Not the schools. It is the students who suffer each day. The institutions are getting their share in the form of fees. Why should they even care for the loss a student has to go through?

And Lastly, the problem that students have to face is the wrath of the teachers who are exposed at the hands of students for telling the truth. It’s a shame such teachers bring on the whole community of teachers/Educationists.

Dear Institutions, it is not COVID that is to be blamed. Rather it has always been your attitude due to which the endless number of students have suffered as well as their parents who are just clients to you.

Of all private schools, The CITY SCHOOL is, unfortunately, the worst institution, I have found so far. All corrupt to the core. The more you try to analyze, the more darkness you will find within. It’s too late for you to even think about it as you are at a point of no return.

May God Almighty help you and ease the pains of the sufferer.

SUCCESSFUL STRATEGIES TO WIN PARENTS

Hello Folks!

As an individual, Educational institution, and even as a parent, you must have faced this; how to talk with parents when it concerns the progress of a child. In Pakistan, very few know these successful strategies that concern these basic areas.

So today, I will discuss with you a few successful strategies that will give you food for thought to incorporate in your systems and capacity building programmes for the teachers. So let’s start.

The first successful strategy to win parents is to have Clarity. As an institution, or even as an individual, one needs to know exactly what they are going to say to the parents and mean it and ensure it whether they have been understood clearly.

As most of the time parents are communicated things in a vague manner which leaves many questions unanswered and the concerned teachers don’t ensure whether they have been successful in delivering their message across the board.

There is no need to feel shy if you have to repeat yourself even for a trillion times. No one will be offended.

The second successful strategy would be to have a professional attitude. Be friendly yet a professional. As a teacher or institution or even a parent do not discuss other people’s negativity or apply it on the child concerned.

In Pakistan, most schools and their staff fail to understand that comparisons and negativity lead nowhere. Its an institution we are talking about.

To cater to these challenges proper training need to be imparted along with developing and cultivating a proper mindset.

The third successful strategy to win parents would be a Positive Attitude. Such an attitude needs to be seen in practice too.

When one can help parents in positively parenting their child without patronizing their capabilities for their child’s upbringing, then the positive attitude is seen at its best.

Also, this positivity is seen when you as an institution, an individual and a parent can add to the learning capability of a child. This is why institutions were made. Are we practising this stuff in our institutions?

The fourth successful strategy to win parents would be to have Backups. By backup, I mean that you need to support what you are saying in terms of sample work or some kind of documentation.

If you have worked on a similar situation with some other child, you can always document that and show it to the parents in your scheduled meetings.

In Pakistan people in institutions go by words from the mouth. That is all the authenticity, you will receive here. To win the parents trust, you need to bring in the documentation to support yourself.

The fifth strategy to win parents is the need to be Flexible. There is always room for improvement provided you are open to suggestions. Being in charge of the situation does not mean you are all in all.

There would be times when the situation requires improvising new strategies and coming up with an alternative plan of action.

There are not many schools in Pakistan who are up for these mind-changing flexibilities. Their word is against the suffering parents and their children. At the end of the day. what are they producing in the form of lots? This, I will answer at the end.

The sixth successful strategy to have winning parents is to Include children wherever possible. Making children part of a discussion always help in the long run. It gives children the confidence that they too matter.

A discussion only concerning the parents and the institution is rather a dead discussion.

The child needs to know what’s going on regarding him or her. It makes them understand their responsibility and what is required of them. Children young(10-onwards) and mature should always be made a part of such discussions.

And Lastly, every teacher should know the course they are teaching and explain it in a layman’s term to the parents. In Pakistan, mostly teacher’s are not clear themselves about the syllabus.

How can you expect them to explain it to the parents? There should be sessions regarding syllabus and explained well to the parents so that parents are at par with the teachers and school and likewise.

These are some of the successful strategies that can help any institution win parents. As parents, we are all trying to work towards a common goal which is the growth of a learner/child.

But the strategies being used at present in the educational institutions are producing cattle and slaves with no mind of their own. A mind to only receive orders and not think. For those who think are treated no less than an outcast or even as misfits.

But let me remind you, it is the misfits who are the cause of change in a rotten society. They are the real agents of change and are finally addressed as heroes or heroines when they achieve their true worth and show to the world what they are capable of.

It is not a lot to think about. Still think about it if you want to have a win-win situation.

Until next time, stay safe and healthy.

THE PUBLIC

Hello Folks!

Today, I aim to bring to you, a matter of grave importance to us all. There is a lot of food for thought. So let’s start.

With the ongoing COVID scenario, many of us are living below the poverty line.

Now, it’s not just one class rather it’s the public at large who are facing extreme conditions. The salaried persons are no better than the daily wagers. There was a time when a bare amount could sustain many families and yet could make fortunes out of it.

With the everyday dose of increase in price hikes i.e electricity, gas, net, telephone, and workers salary, etc., Now, the scenario is that a person having a salary ranging 50,000/- PAK Rupees to 200000/-PAK Rupees is facing problems in sustaining necessities.

These are just general expenditures. There are some expenditures beyond these which comprise ethical and empathic expenditures. And if a person fails to fulfill these expenditures, one dies every day.

Parents are the living example in this scenario. A parent takes great pride in providing necessities and all to their children whatever great or low they might have. But the present scenario has made them miserable especially when they look into their empty pockets and are embarrassed to offer what they have left.

However, the children who have seen the good and bad times together are beyond these changes and are still clung to them like honey to bees.

This is the true love of families. Despite the Economic crisis within the families, the bond of family ties has not broken instead it has strengthened.

This, however, makes me think about the present government and its policies. What are they doing in this regard? To me and to every common man, we are observing the scenario of  LOOK BUSY AND DO NOTHING.

If 20 kg of basic staple food (flour) has reached the rate of 1050/- PAK Rupees and Sugar is talking with the sky, where are we to go from here?

Whatever was the scenario in the past with other governments of the time, the public at large did not die like this. if there was a shortage of one thing the public at large was compensated with something else.

Think about it before it is too late. Until next time stay safe and healthy.
